Statement of purpose of the fellowship
Remembering the key role played by Rotarians in the formation of the United Nations Organization, with the object to further international friendship, service, acquaintance and fellowship among Rotarians as well as our goal to encourage and foster the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through Rotarians united in the ideal of service, the United Nations Fellowship of Rotarians is composed of Rotarians who concentrate on and offer to cooperate in supporting the United Nations' peace building efforts through those of Rotary International in optimally making the best for humankind of all the constant opportunities offered to Rotary through its consultative status with the UN and other international organizations.
Members are Rotarians in good standing who contribute to the newsletter, website, activities and/or discussion, and have an interest in the United Nations. President, Secretary, Newsletter Editor. More officers can be appointed to obtain a broader representation. Officers will be elected in November for a 2 year term, to take office the following July 1st. Ballots will be mailed or emailed to members in good standing, and a majority vote of the members is necessary to be elected. As long as possible, the Fellowship will have no dues. If dues will become necessary, it will be the officers in agreement with the past presidents who will decide on this matter and do so in consultation with the membership. An annual report will be sent out each September, including the current roster of members, a calendar of events and activities, and any other pertinent information. Any member may propose a change of these rules. The officers will review the proposed change, and submit a recommendation to the membership. A majority vote of the membership is necessary to change these rules. |
